Android users were affected by data breach when they used their Facebook and Twitter accounts to provide access to Giant Square and Photofy apps. There is doubt on iOS users because we have no report about the incident impacting them.
Google, Apple, and other tech giants have been informed by Twitter to take further actions about the malicious SDK.
Twitter added, We will directly notify users who use Twitter for android, who may have been impacted by this issue. You have nothing to do at this time, if you think you have downloaded a malicious tool from third-part application store, we recommend you to delete it immediately.
Also, Twitter stated that users accounts had been used for targeted advertising purposes. Once more, Twitter stated that an error in it's Tailored Audiences and Partner Audiences advertising system" without the intention to use users information provided by users to run targeted ads.
Also, Facebook admitted a breach involving 100 third-party developers who had improper access to the data. Facebook's Director of Platform Partnerships, Konstantinos Papamiltiadis revealed that the app developers had access to user data such as group members names and profile pictures via the Group API.
