Samsung says that it plans to release its fingerprint sensor on the screen next week, after reports emerge that a bio-metric security mechanism may not be appropriate for certain screen guards.

The issue has to do with the "silicone screen protector case," according to Samsung, and affects the Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10 5G, as well as the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus.

Until the patch is available, Samsung advises users not to use such covers. It says users should remove the cover, delete any previously registered fingerprints, and then re-register without the cover applied. If you are using a screen protector that came to be used for your phone then you should be fine.
